Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, dividing the word of truth aright.1

And fashion not your selves like unto this world, but be ye changed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God is.2

What man is he that fears the LORD? Him will He teach in the way He shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease, and his seed shall inherit the land.3

Take heed unto thy self, and unto learning: continue therein: for in doing this thou shall both save thy self, and them that hear thee.4

A wise man shall hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels,5

Take my yoke on you, and learn of me that I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.6

Let us study therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of disobedience.7

Where is the wise? where is the Scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made the wisdom of this world foolishness?8

Let not this book of the Law depart out of thy mouth, but meditate therein day and night, that thou may observe and do according to all that is written therein: for then shall thou make thy way prosperous, and then shall thou have good success.9

A moderate word of counsel ....

One must always be mindful not to permit study to become an end in itself instead of a means to a carefully selected end. Balance should be the all-important companion.

The object of study should be to produce specific fruit in ones life, therefore the natural and useful emphasis is not to become intellectually “fat”, but intellectually “fit”, as you equip yourself to travel the path to your destiny.

There are three primary considerations that we would suggest for those who seek to take study seriously.  Firstly, balance your time, as too much study can make one weary.11  Secondly, check to see if what you have discovered in your study is true,12  and thirdly, one should always allow opportunity for the Spirit of God to teach and guide.13
